Keeping it Spicy

Long ago, I used to know this really old gentleman named Max. He was old school straight from Mexico. Max lived to be 95. The thing that was so cool about this dude was he just never quit. He was healthy as an ox. I swear he never got a cold or flu or anything! I once asked Max what his secret was. He said it was the peppers. Max ate a habanero pepper every day. This has always kind of stuck with me, though I never envisioned being the kind of person who could actually eat a habanero pepper. Well, I do actually eat them now, but not every day.

There is amazing potential in the power of hot peppers that I feel are underrepresented and often overlooked. When I recently started doing the Master Cleanse detox (see my previous blog) my interest was piqued.  There were two primary reasons for my interest; I felt great and in the midst of a Michigan winter, I wasn’t cold. I had heard a rumor if you drank cayenne pepper or took it in capsule form that it would naturally elevate your body temperature and you would be warmer in the winter. I inadvertently tested this by drinking the Master Cleanse mix which had cayenne pepper in it and it worked! In fact, I noticed that when I wouldn’t drink the Master Cleanse solution (which contains cayenne pepper) I would start to get cold again. Impressed with the notion this health tip could be true, I investigated. Turns out there’s actually scientific evidence that cayenne pepper warms you up.

The miracle ingredient in hot peppers is Capsaicin. It’s the active ingredients in hot peppers. Capsaicin has capsaicinoids which have magical powers; most of which is summed up in this video:  In fact, you could probably just watch this video and skip most the reading, but I’m going to put as much info here in black and white as I can, because that’s what I do. habanero

Capsaicin has been used for a variety of ailments including heartburn, delirium, tremors, gout, paralysis, fever, dyspepsia, flatulence, sore throat, atonic dyspepsia, hemorrhoids, menorrhagia, nausea, tonsillitis, scarlet fever and diphtheria. I can’t believe eating peppers can help you fart less! Holy shit! It’s true. This amazing substance can be used as a digestive aid, Anti-allergen, metabolic booster, weight loss aid, Oral remedies, helps with saliva production, joint pain reliever, and it helps fight blood clots. It helps prevent migraines, is anti fungal, is a good topical remedy, and of course great for detox support. Also, Capsaicin has NO KNOWN DRUG INTERACTIONS with any drug, ever.

Especially important to know this time of year is that Capsaicin is a powerful anti cold and flu agent. There’s a great recipe for cayenne pepper tea that will help keep you healthy through the cold and flu season:   If by chance you didn’t read this on time and currently have a cold; there are several remedies that can help ease you symptoms. Here’s a link to different home remedies involving pepper:

As if all the wonderful things I mentioned about wasn’t enough to convince you of the power of the pepper, get this. It kills cancer too!  In fact, Capsaicin is even cooler because it causes cancer cells to kill themselves! Cancer suicide!  The web is full of articles about cayenne and cancer. Also, check this great link to a blog about this guy named Chris who beat cancer without chemo (of course cayenne pepper was mentioned, along with some other great things as well):

And, just for fun… Check this guy out! I recommend watching this video. I like the way he talks about pee, poo and hemorrhoids: You’ll notice a portion of this video where he gets very uncomfortable as he describes how “hot” things get. People reacting awkwardly on you tube often sends me into fits of laughter.

One last link just for shits and giggles:

Most of us tattoo artists don’t have great medical insurance if any at all. None of us have time to be sick or have cancer. If something as simple as taking a pepper capsule, making tea, or drinking some cayenne pepper every day can improve your health why not do it and live to tattoo another day?

You keep reading and I’ll keep writing.
